A community rugby club has taken stock of a new £10m venue to provide local youngsters with better access to rugby, football and netball.
Designed by Pick Everard, the 1,500sq m facility for Grasshoppers Rugby Club in the London Borough of Hounslow has been built on a previously neglected and underused site, with the club’s former location being freed up for the construction of a new secondary school.
The new venue includes a rugby clubhouse, natural and artificial rugby pitches, artificial netball courts, a gym, members’ lounge and bar, function suite and shop.
“Grasshoppers is a rugby club for the community, and the new facility gives the club the opportunity to strengthen and grow its current rugby and netball specialisms and success,” said Andrew Almond, partner at Pick Everard.
“Our solution embraces environmental responsibility and future demand, using the latest in energy efficiency designs to create a highly green site.”
